Kruthika N.S
She / Her
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Kruthika is an Indian feminist artist and lawyer. Reimagining the world for what “could be” as an artist, rather than “what is” or “what must” as a lawyer, her multimedia artistic practice explores gender, justice, and just futures.
Kruthika has collaborated with over 30 social justice organisations to conceptualise and illustrate their visual campaigns. Her collaborators span a range of organisations, including Urgent Action Fund, AWID, Fairwork at Oxford University, Purposeful, Internet Freedom Foundation, UNICEF, Digital Freedom Fund, and Robert Bosch Stiftung. She has also facilitated group artistic sessions, and served as a graphic recorder in several feminist meetings. Deeply passionate about the role art has to play in society, Kruthika has been a guest speaker on the topic at multiple spaces including the Center For Internet & Society Bengaluru, Miranda House New Delhi, and the University of the Arts London. She has also done artistic residencies and fellowships with the Sandbox Collective, Goethe Institute, and ESPN.
She grew up in Bengaluru, and holds a degree in law from NUJS Kolkata. She is currently pursuing a masters degree on a full scholarship at New York University, with a focus on visual art and narrative change. As an artist-in-residence at Our Collective Practice, she approaches our work with a central question: What would the world look like if it was built on girls' dreams for the future?
Kruthika's work, inspiration, and (most importantly) cat photos are usually found on her Instagram, @TheWorkplaceDoodler.
